Halfords selects Episys to enhance multichannel offering

RBR Staff Writer Published 22 July 2013

Halfords, a British automotive and leisure products retailer, has selected global information technology services company Episys' integrated signage solution to improve in-store customer communications.

As a current user of the Episys Enterprise Communication Suite for Retail, Halfords was able to build on this existing asset through the simple addition of some complimentary modules.

The upgrade will allow Halfords to scale up to handle major seasonal promotions as well as additional stores as required.

It enables majority of stores to print material locally and incorporate new design features such as QR codes, barcodes, logos and color to create more engaging shelf edge, peg end labels, promotional shelf talkers and A5 / A4 signage.

Halfords business process consultant Joy Edwards said with Episys Enterprise Communication Suite for Retail, the company was able to incorporate new technology.

"The software allows us to create color signage and to incorporate QR codes, which are crucial in providing information at the point of need. Our processes will be streamlined as all ticketing management will come straight from the support centre and be printed in-store," Edwards added.

Testing of the system will begin towards the end of 2013 and full roll-out across the retailer's 467 stores in the UK and Ireland is expected to begin in early 2014.

Halfords sells around 10,000 different product lines in stores and around 16,000 lines at Halfords.com.

The product portfolio includes significant ranges across car parts, in-car technology, car seats, roof boxes, outdoor leisure and camping equipment as well as cycles.
